We woke up in the beautiful Dandenong Ranges, just a short walk from the famous Proserpina Bakehouse.

And really—how could we resist?

If you wake up this close to such a gem, breakfast there is a must!

Proserpina Bakehouse is an organic bakery that mills its own flour from heritage Victorian biodynamic grain, right here in the Dandenong Ranges.

Their selection of freshly baked organic breads and pastries is incredible—true artisanal quality.

Every bite was a delight, and the whole experience couldn’t have been better.

Being a typical Finn, I love observing people, and this morning did not disappoint. I enjoyed watching couples savouring their time together (and their coffee!), and a group of cyclists taking a well-earned break along their route.
The atmosphere was calm and unhurried — just pure relaxation in a beautiful setting. As we wandered through, we also noticed a lovely selection of giftware for sale, adding to the charm of the experience.

Thank you, Proserpina Bakehouse, for a wonderful start to the day!
One of my absolute favourite gardens in the Dandenong Ranges is the Rhododendron Gardens, so that’s where we headed next.

It’s a place I visit often, and today felt like the perfect day for a long walk through its breathtaking landscapes.

These gardens are beautifully framed by towering Mountain Ash trees.

It is home to an incredible collection of cool-climate plants, including rhododendrons, azaleas, and camellias.

Each season brings a new kind of beauty, making every visit unique.

It’s the perfect spot to bring a picnic basket and enjoy a relaxing afternoon on one of the garden’s peaceful lawns.

We were incredibly lucky to spot a Lyrebird during our visit!

These fascinating, ground-dwelling Australian songbirds are famous for their ability to mimic both natural and artificial sounds. The males also have stunning lyre-shaped tail feathers, which they display during courtship. The one we saw, however, was far more interested in digging for worms than impressing a mate!

The pathways wound through lush greenery, offering serene views and peaceful moments at every turn.

The air was fresh with the scent of blossoms.

The sound of birds chirping created a perfect soundtrack for our walk.

Walking these gardens always feels like a journey through nature’s own gallery, with each plant and tree carefully placed to create a living masterpiece.

It’s the kind of place where time slows down, and you can truly immerse yourself in the beauty of the natural world.

Shades of deep orange stood out like bursts of warmth among the greenery, while clusters of delicate white flowers added a sense of softness and light.

Splashes of rich purple wove through the landscape, creating a striking contrast against the other hues.

Every turn of the path revealed a new combination of colours, each more beautiful than the last.

It truly felt like walking through a living painting, with God as the artist and the nature His masterpiece.

Spending time in the Rhododendron Gardens was the perfect way to end our short getaway — surrounded by breathtaking colours, fresh air, and the peaceful beauty of nature.

And then, it was time to step back into the rhythm of daily life.
